You cannot buy PrecisionTree on its own. Lumivero sells it only inside the DecisionTools Suite — listed at €3,680 per year for Professional and €4,790 for Industrial on the vendor's web shop (Lumivero web shop (shop.lumivero.com), retrieved August 2026). If decision trees are what you need, four other products come along for the price.
The component's own development has been quiet. The suite as a whole is actively maintained — release 8.12 shipped in November 2025 — but PrecisionTree's own version history, published inside Lumivero's help set, records no release after 7.6.1 in September 2019. The current PrecisionTree help ships as a downloadable Windows CHM file rather than browsable web pages, and Lumivero's own download page warns that Windows blocks CHM files by default.
And the analysis you may want most is not there. Value of information — what a study, pilot or test is worth before you commission it — is the question decision trees are best at answering. PrecisionTree's documentation describes no value-of-information feature: a search of Lumivero's help site, which indexes the product thoroughly, returns nothing for “value of information”, “EVPI” or “perfect information”. The vendor's webinar demonstrates building the comparison by hand as a second tree — a real technique, but not a report you generate from the tree you already have. If your daily workflow leans on one-click Bayesian reversal of chance nodes, PrecisionTree's implementation remains the most convenient in the category — ModelChoice does Bayesian revision inside its EVII analysis rather than as a separate tree-reversal view. If you build influence diagrams on the worksheet, PrecisionTree offers that view and ModelChoice does not (though for genuinely large influence-diagram models, a standalone tool like DPL serves better than either add-in). And if your organisation already runs the DecisionTools Suite for @RISK and StatTools, the marginal cost of PrecisionTree is zero — the argument for switching then rests on value of information and MCDA, not on price.
Like PrecisionTree, ModelChoice is Windows and Excel only — there is no Mac or browser version of either — and ModelChoice has no Markov modelling; health-economics teams who need Markov cohorts should look at TreeAge, not at either Excel add-in.
DPL (Syncopation) is the strongest choice when the model is a large influence diagram rather than a worksheet tree, and it reports value of information and control in every edition. SilverDecisions is free and runs in the browser — excellent for teaching and quick one-off trees, with no value-of-information feature. TreeAge Pro owns the health-economics niche with Markov modelling and computes EVPI and EVPPI from probabilistic sensitivity analysis.
